From: StudentAffairs [StudentAffairs@pensacolastate.edu] Sent: Tuesday, June 07, 2011 11:31 AM Subject: Need help in school? Wouldn't it be great if there was a program that helped students who needed one-on-one advising and tutoring? Or how about a program that helped students prepare for transfer to a four year university, by taking you on college visits and guiding you through the transfer process? Perhaps you've wondered how to get help when you’re floundering and you need more than your instructors’ office hours. Or perhaps your parents never graduated from college and you’re lost in the maze of college rules and jargon. Well, there is a program that can help you, right here in your midst and that program is Student Support Services!Student Support Services is a federally funded grant program designed to help first generation, low income and/or disabled college students succeed. Eligible students must have an academic need (e.g. tested into at least one prep class). SSS serves as a one-stop place for our participants to receive tutoring, academic advising, transfer assistance, financial aid counseling, peer mentoring, and help with college success skills. Students in our program get one-on-one attention from a dedicated and caring staff. If you think you could benefit from our services, please come see us and fill out an application! Even if you do not qualify, we will direct you to other programs or services that may be able to help. Check out our program and download an application at www.itech.pensacolastate.edu/sssWe look forward to meeting you! Rachelle S. Burns, M.A. Director, Student Support Services, Pensacola State College, 1000 College Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32504 (850) 484-1817 rburns@pensacolastate.edu
