Inspired by the popularity of the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition’s Science Saturdays, the MESS Hall was founded in 2012 by Dr. Megan Pratt. After a successful summer trial run in a temporary location on Romana Street, the MESS Hall has relocated to a new home convenient to the Interstate off Tarragona Street. The MESS Hall is not a typical science museum. Rather than exhibits with planned outcomes, visitors get to work like real scientists, developing questions and creating experiments, engaging in complex reasoning and learning science just through tinkering. It’s all hands-on science. Teen VolunteersWant to help inspire a love of science while learning more about scientific research? Consider applying for the IHMC TechConnect program, a partnership with the Pensacola MESS Hall. Volunteers will help at the MESS Hall, helping visitors with a range of activities.
