Every year, CIAS hosts a two-day Biology Dissection Lab, and we it up to the homeschool community, so let your friends know!
We are planning the 2007 Biology Dissection Labs again this year. If your student took Biology last year (we did not offer the lab last year), is taking Biology currently, or will start Biology during this school year, please sign up!
The Dissection labs are going to be on November 7-8 (W/TH) from 9 AM to 2 PM.
We do seven specimen dissections: earthworm, bullfrog, perch, clam, starfish, crayfish, and embryo pig.
A month before the class, I mail out vocab study list for the students to learn. Then, I instruct the class and show video demonstrations. The students pair up and perform directed dissections, then complete each dissection with lab reports. The fee is $45 per student this year.
The kids always have a great time and learn so much! The class size is limited to 15-20 students each year.

The Dissection labs are going to be on November 7-8 (W/TH) from 9 AM to 2 PM. Hello, everyone! I want to remind everyone to study their vocab quiz sheets. You may look up the answers to all the vocab words online at www.dictionary.com or in your biology textbooks. There is one correction: the umbro under the clam should be spelled umbo instead. The vocab quiz will be on Thursday at the end of the dissection. The lab will start at 9 AM on both days, ending at 2 PM on Wednesday and maybe earlier on Thursday. Our schedule is to spend two hours dissecting, take an hour lunch/snack break from 11-12, and then spend two more hours dissecting. WHAT TO BRING: Bring a drink Bring a snack and/or lunch; we have a fridge Bring 2 pencils; we have a sharpener If you are not in the CIAS billing system, please bring $45 as well Wednesday's dissections include the frog, earthworm, clam, and crayfish. Thursday's dissections include the starfish, perch, and embryo pig. DRESS CODE: Normal CIAS dress code for boys and girls. For those who do not normally come to CIAS, girls should wear skirts. See you tomorrow! Mary Beth Jones
