There is no set way to weight grades, but here are some guidelines that the CIAS Campus School staff uses to weight students' grades to configure course GPA's:
If a course has quizzes or checkups: Average all quizzes completed during one (1) quarter together for a test grade, four (4) per year
If you want to average in homework: Average all homework completed during one (1) quarter together for a test grade, four (4) per year
If course has no cumulative tests: Enter each test once (with no weighting)
If a course has cumulative exams: Weight them according to their accumulation. For example, a 3-week test should be entered once and not be weighted, a 9-week exam should be weighted and entered 2 times, a semester exam should be weighted 3 times, and a final exam should be weighted 4 times.
Sometimes, parents like to split the weight of a class 25% homework/75% test grades or 40% homework/60% test grades. these are also both acceptable.
