I am sorry, guys, but I am in too much pain today, so I am going to cancel the Senior Meeting for tonight. I have strained my back and pinched my sciatic nerve; I'll be okay if I can get rest and stay off my feet!
So, I will see you all on October 5 at 6 PM. The Research Paper Workshop will also be after that meeting (starting at 7 PM); everyone who has not written a paper yet or enrolled in English Comp II at PJC or UWF will need to stay afterwards for this workshop.
I am sorry for the short notice. Aly will be calling everyone today to confirm the cancellation.
Be Blessed! Mary Beth Jones

Hey, Seniors! Since more than half of you were absent from last night's Senior Meeting, I want to give everyone a quick update. The meeting was all about college applications, academic recommendations, the FFAA, and Florida Bright Futures. I also explained the differences between scholarships, grants, and loans, talked about ACTs and SATs, and gave the introductory Info for Research Paper writing (for all not taking Eng Comp I & II in dual enrollment). 1. For those who intend on applying for the Florida Bright Futures, you need to drop by the office and fill out a Application Verfication form that I MUST have on file before releasing your grades to the online transcript system. 2. If you are applying for a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship, I expect you to know about and become familiar with terms. The FFAA is an important application that you need to know about. BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE FFAA! Log onto www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/ to find out more about it. 3. NOW is the time for college applications and scholarship applications for next fall's college term! Get a head start on everyone else, and get approved first! Go online to the schools that you are interested in and request info/application packets OR apply online. If you need transcripts sent, you need to bring me a copy of their transcript request form or e-mail me their full name and mailing address. Attendance at the scheduled monthly meetings is IMPERATIVE if you want to apply for scholarships or get help with college applications. I cannot help you if you do not help yourself by attending. Plan ahead! The Senior Meetings are always scheduled for the first Friday evening of each month, at CIAS, from 6-7 PM.

I am scheduling the next senior meeting to be on Friday, March 7th from 5-6 PM. If you need to, ask to get off from work and plan to be there; it is a very important meeting for the seniors! If you cannot make it, then someone from your family needs to represent you and bring your measurements; please let me know in advance by e-mail if this is the case!
I need FFAA's!!!!!!! I have not held a February meeting because many of those who are applying for Florida Bright Futures have still not filled out their FFAA's as I have instructed. This reminder would be for the following seniors: Brittany Bondurant Michael Danielson Sharon Hudson Britni Schoolcraft Margaret Spitznagel Camilla Tegnander Corey Truitt Stephanie Williams
Those listed above have almost missed the February window for early evaluation in the Florida Bright Futures system at this point. If you fill them out in the next week, I will try to process your transcript data by the end of the month. I have until the end of July to finalized your applications, but you need to fill out the FFAA NOW!!!!
Topics to be discussed at the March meeting: Measuring for caps and gowns Ordering of cords (see e-mail with the colors and what they stand for listed) ordering of Stoles, medallions, etc. Graduation ceremony/reception planning Voting on your class distinctives Honor Societies Scholarship opportunities & College applications
You need to bring with you: 1. The 3-ring binder w/tabs that I told you to set up for yourself Inside it: report cards, college application info, scholarship info, all test results from high school, records of Community Service and any other extra curricular credits that you are earning, your dual enrollment transcripts (unofficial are okay)
